Emma and Ali are responsible for the day-to-day running of the different accounts in the ewpr portfolio which they personally work on alongside the other members of the ewpr team.  As the agency is small, you will find that everyone in our team has an understanding of and an involvement in your account.  So there is always someone here to help even if your personal Account Director is out of the office.

Emma began keeping a food diary when she was about 9.  And letters home from summer holiday camps consisted in main of a list of what had been served for breakfast, lunch and supper.  Embarrassing, but true.  For legal reasons, her penchant for wine was not to follow until a later stage.  Initially sparked by a year spent at University in Aix-En-Provence as part of her French degree, Emma's interest in wine really began once she was installed in the offices of Decanter Magazine in 1989 where she spent a year as Editorial Assistant.   From here, she crossed to 'the other side' and spent a number of years working for some recognised specialist PR agencies active in the drinks, food and restaurant sectors - notably Carpe Diem, Peretti Communications (The Champagne Information Bureau) and Westbury Communications - prior to setting up her own agency in 1999.

Ali Mann

Ali smallStudying in St. Andrews for a degree in Medieval History, Ali quickly cottoned on to the benefits of asking her local Oddbins staff to recommend 'drinkable' wines at a student-friendly price of £3 a bottle (back in the day…).  So perhaps it wasn't the biggest of surprises that her first job after University was at Quellyn Roberts Independent Wine Merchants in her home town of Chester.  After 18 months, and having passed her first two WSET courses, Ali made the move to the big smoke to run events at Harpers Wine & Spirit magazine where she stayed for just over two years and passed her WSET Diploma.  In 2003 she started working at ewpr and can now be regarded as part of the furniture, heading up a number of accounts and working with producers and agents around the world.

Poppy Simon

Being brought up by a Francophile mother in the drinks trade, and an Italophile father, means Poppy has been immersed in food and wine from a young age.  (Her parents took the continental approach as to the appropriate age to start trying wine with dinner!)  She studied French and Italian and visited both countries frequently, so perhaps similar interests were inevitable.  Despite this, Poppy’s route into PR was rather unusual - via a degree in Zoology, followed by two years working in media intelligence.  Throughout this period she continued to try any food or drink on offer, baked her way through several books by Nigella, and was designated food and drink boffin at pub quizzes - not a topic that comes up as much as it should, for any quiz masters reading.  After leaving Kantar Media last summer, she joined ewpr, where the combination of a lifetime of gluttony and scientific background are proving quite useful.
