“My aim in life is to make people healthier and happier.”

As the inventor of not just several medical devices that literally help save lives, but also the revolutionary Coravin wine preservation system, Greg Lambrecht is telling the truth!

Coravin (which means ‘heart of wine’ btw) first launched ten years ago and has been instrumental in changing the way we drink wine. Restaurants are creating entire wines-by-the-glass menus with it, wine businesses are saving a fortune in samples for customers, we’re having one glass a night rather than six with it, and people are building - and, more to the point, tasting! - their wine collections with it.

And all thanks to a medical-use non-coring needle which can pass through the cork while it’s still in the bottle…

Greg was in London last week to host one of his trademark ‘Dare To Compare’ tastings, challenging guests to see if they could correctly identify the pre-accessed wines in a triangular tasting. Harrods let us use their wine room, and Napa winery Orin Swift - a long-time advocate of Coravin - supplied the wines.

The result? No, you couldn’t tell for sure which wines had been pre-accessed which shows that Coravin really does work.

Greg also showed us the first incarnation of the device, when it was called Wine Mosquito. No, we don’t know how he got it through customs either…
