Alsace - A Treat Of A Trip

They came from all over - such is the pulling power of the Alsace region. Well, Tamlyn Currin came from London, Jane Clare from Liverpool, our two Somms came from bonny Scotland (Glen Montgomery and Stuart Skea) and Peter Dean trotted across from Toulouse where he was summering.

Trip highlights included a deep dive into Grand Cru Brand, co-hosted by 5 producers; a Grands Crus & Lieux-Dits terroir exploration at Rolly Gassmann’s James Bondesque spanking new tasting facility in Rorschwihr, where Jane Clare had the producers perform some sort of vinous Mexican wave; and visits to Hugel and Trimbach.  As well as an array of some simply stunning wines, the group was complètement gâté on the food front. Santé et bon appetit!
