Mistral is made by ‘Dare And Drink’.  Established by Guillaume Bonnefoi in 2018, the company works with a distillery dating back to 1898, located in the village of Forcalquier, deep in the heart of the Alpes de Haute Provence region, to produce its gin.  A year in development, the Mistral recipe is the result of a fascination with the region’s botanicals, and also a marriage of tradition and originality.

Medicinal herbs have been foraged from the nearby Montagne du Lure since the Middle Ages, and the six Provençal botanicals (thyme, basil, fennel, pink grapefruit, eucalyptus, mint) used in the blend are all hand-picked from the mountain slopes.  Firstly, a juniper gin is made by distilling six traditional gin botanicals together:  cardamon, grain of paradise, pink pepper, juniper, iris, coriander.  This is then blended with the Provençal botanicals, which have been distilled and macerated separately, to produce a dry gin with fresh, distinctive flavours and a contemporary citrus finish.
