LGI Unveils A Heavenly Duo From The South Of France

New for 2016:  LGI brings the ‘Heavenly’ flavours of the South of France to Wine Rack and Bargain Booze - and at a price that’s sure to please.

Heavenly Sauvignon Blanc 2014, IGP Côtes de Gascogne

RRP £5.99, Wine Rack & Bargain Booze

LGI looks to Gascony for this saintly Sauvignon Blanc:  here the nearby Atlantic sea, sandy slopes and combination of hot days and cool nights really bring out the varietal’s fresh, aromatic character.

After picking, the grapes undergo six hours of skin contact in order to extract maximum fruit aromas and, following a very gentle pressing, the cold must is fermented at low temperatures to retain a refreshing acidity in the final wine.  Three months’ ageing on the lees gives a rich smoothness and a spicy finish for a wine that pairs perfectly with seafood, chilled salads and delicious curries.

Heavenly Malbec 2014, IGP Pays d’Oc

RRP £5.99, Wine Rack & Bargain Booze

Completing the Heavenly duo is this angelic Malbec.  The grapes for this wine are sourced from the relatively cool area of Limoux where the vines benefit from Mediterranean sun and breezes, giving fresh fruit aromas and high quality tannins.

Grapes are crushed and de-stemmed, then undergo a ten week maceration with regular pumping over during the first ten days.  A small portion is aged with oak staves to give extra backbone and texture to the finished wine - a red that is the perfect accompaniment to beef, rabbit, barbecued meats or aged cheese.
