Boutinot Brings New Off-Trade Ranges From Spain

Boutinot has unveiled El Duende de España and Tierras de Mediel - two new additions to its Spanish portfolio which have been carefully crafted for the multiple retail sector in partnership with Bodegas Murviedro and Bodegas Ontañón.

With labels designed to capture the spirit and vibrancy of flamenco, El Duende de España comprises an easy-drinking red and white duo (RRP £6.49).  The Sauvignon Blanc Viura 2015 and Garnacha Shiraz Monastrell 2015 have been blended specifically for the UK market with Bodegas Murviedro, one of the leading wineries in DO Valencia, Utiel-Requena and Alicante and with whom Boutinot launched Fauno for the Independent On- and Off-Trade sectors last year.

Tierras de Mediel - named after the ancient pathways that cross the Cidacos Valley in Rioja Baja - consists of a Vendimia Seleccionada 2013, which has four months’ barrel ageing (RRP £7.99), and a Crianza 2013 (RRP £8.99).  Both have been produced in partnership with Bodegas Ontañón, which has 250 hectares of vineyards high in the Sierra Yerga Mountains near Quel in Rioja Baja and has worked with Boutinot since 2006.

“Both producers offer quality, value for money and provenance and we’ve worked with them to achieve styles that we know work for the target market: from blending international and indigenous varieties for El Duende de España to taking advantage of Ontañón’s high altitude vineyards to produce Rioja wines with fruit purity, elegance and freshness,” comments Boutinot’s Spain Buyer Jean Wareing MW.

Since its inception in 1980, Boutinot has grown to become one of the UK’s leading wine companies, both distributing and producing ranges from around the world.  Its comprehensive ‘Made by Boutinot’ portfolio sits alongside and complements the 100 plus agencies that the company is proud to represent in the UK.
